Consider adding support for sof-firmware via mhwd / MSM

I have a HD installed running XFCE and tried the Live-ISO to test something and then i realized there is no sound in live-session. So i looked at my installed Manjaro XFCE that has a working sound …

I think the sound driver is missing and should be added to the *.iso

I think it’s the package sof-firmware?!

Here the information of inxi -F

If i remember correct i had this sound problem after my HD-install some time ago. Would be useful if that would be fixed.

you may want to install the sof-firmware package and reboot the PC.

Package sof-firmware is only required for Intel systems (kabylake and later) and is not needed for other systems

So I would suggest Manjaro team should consider adding support for sof-firmware drivers using mhwd and Manjaro Settings Manager > Hardware Configuration

I think that might change in the future.

Current AMD systems do not need additional packages installed. AMD Raven and Renoir devices already have drivers (acp3x) supplied by the kernel/ALSA
(and seem to be working out better than Intel Sound Open Firmware so far :crossed_fingers:)

If Ryzen systems need sof-firmware or similar additional packages in future, that could also be supported via mhwd / Manjaro Settings Manager

It will now be installed by default:

Thank you, so that issue has been fixed
