What’s a configuration for a KDE application doing in gnome?
I do use some KDE apps in gnome, but then I decided to do so.
The falkon in ~/.config/ appears there unsolicited.
Does probably no harm other than pollution and possible confusion.
I think I can just delete it - if I ever want to try that browser again¹⁾, it’ll create its config, anyway, wouldn’t it?
¹) I’ve done that some months ago on another machine but didn’t like it (in gnome).
It comes from /etc/skel - which holds the default values that are copied to any newly created user account.
I don’t know why it is there - probably an oversight. Someone forgot to clean out this directory, perhaps -
or falcon was, at one time, installed by default
and this profile makes sure the Falcon browser is Manjaro branded
(pre-existing bookmarks …).
It can be deleted with no ill effect.
From /etc/skel as well.
And: yes
the browser will create a new profile when you first start it - should you ever install it.
btw:
it is not even available from the repo or from the AUR
just here is where I found it:
https://www.falkon.org/
It is in official repositories extra (with …-git and …-plugin-pdfreader in the AUR).
And thanks for the hint to skel. I might have forgotten that one.
I just tried to install it - pacman didn’t find anything.
pacman -Ss falcon
I then checked:
https://manjaristas.org/branch_compare?q=falcon
and it wasn’t there either.
Then I checked the AUR - same result.
There is a package called falcon, but it is not a browser.
So: there … ![]()
oops - my typo … I can’t accommodate to writing an English ‘c’ as a KDE’s ‘k’.
@Nachlese probably because it is spelled Falkon ![]()
@nitja Do we have and actuall support question here, or you just wanted to tell us how you feel about that browser? If so i think we can close this topic.
Ah. Oops.
… and I read it multiple times and even posted the link to the web site
and still didn’t notice.
My bad.
Sorry @nitja
I have the confirmation which I’ve asked for.
So it can be closed, anyway.
