Computer immediately wakes after suspending, without input

Hi all, recently switched to Manjaro from Win10, really enjoying it - but have one bug I can’t solve:

Whenever I suspend the PC, the screen will shut off, and the power LED on my case will switch off, but it will then immediately awake. Please can you help me troubleshoot this?

I’m hoping it wasn’t the “no swap” option I selected on installation…

with an ssd and enough RAM you go fine without swap, I would change power management settings in the bios probably ( ACPI, APM …)

Thanks for your input @anon58039152 - I appreciate if this is a BIOS issue, it’s slightly outside the realm of this forum’s support. However, the same error doesn’t happen with Windows sleep mode, using the same BIOS settings.

I have upgraded my BIOS to the latest available (F34 - for some reason F35 fails with a “BIOS ID Check Error”).

No settings I found referenced “APM” - All settings referencing ACPI are set to “Auto”:

  • ACPI_CST C1 Declaration: Auto (can set to Enabled/Disabled?)
  • ACPI SRAT L3 Cache As NUMA Domain: Auto
  • ACPI SLIT Distance Control: Auto
  • ACPI SLIP remote relative distance: Auto

Are there any settings in particular that you would recommend experimenting with?

If anyone has any further thoughts on how to diagnose/troubleshoot I’m all ears - thanks in advance.

Manjaro also has a very handy Kernel switch
control center. You can try to upgrade or even
downgrade.

So it is not clear by which event the awake process has been triggered.

  1. Input Devices?
  2. Wake on LAN?

Linux just do what ACPI says, it should do. So the problem is really the UEFI.

P.S. Some applications can inhibit sleep state. Spotify is the most notorious one as you cannot turn it off, but VLC, qBittorrent, … can be set to inhibit sleep too.
