Color picker no longer working in Gwenview:Annotate (X11 and Wayland)

Hi,

Gwenview Annotate is my go-to tool for annotating screenshots and PNG’s. I don’t know exactly when this problem came up but for a while now I can’t use the color picker anymore. Does anyone expercience the same issue?

Gwenview: 25.04.1
KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.14.0
Qt Version: 6.9.0
Kernel Version: 6.6.90-1-MANJARO (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11

Any suggestions?

Looks like a known issue.

For future reference:

System Information

While information from *-fetch type apps might be fine for someone wishing to buy your computer, for Support purposes it’s better to ask your system directly; :eyes:

Output of the inxi command with appropriate parameters will achieve this (naturally, formatted according to forum guidelines) and will generally be more useful for those wishing to help:

inxi --filter --verbosity=8

or the short form:

inxi -zv8

Hi @soundofthunder,

I was thinking along the line of YAGNI and prevent a To Much Information situation. I took the info from the system info in Plasma’s System Setting and limiting it first to the software stack at high level. More detail could be added if this was an issue at all and if so, not already on the radar. Apparently, the issue is known at KDE.

But if it’s preferred to directly add the inxi output I’ll do that next time.

Yes, that is the preference when creating a Support topic.

Quite often this allows others to see other factors that might be contributing to an issue. Too much information is always better than not enough.

As the command given filters any personally identifiable information, one has nothing to lose but a few extra seconds of time, and minimal effort.

Regards.

Meanwhile, add the plasmoid to your panel - that colour picker is still working fine…

But only if you do not have the “Dim Inactive” effect enabled, because with that effect enabled, when you launch kcolorpicker, kcolorpicker becomes “the active window” and everything else is dimmed.

Selecting any color that way will thus yield incorrect/undesirable results. :man_shrugging:

Well obviously it’s not a fix - because even if you pick your colour you cannot apply it to the tools for annotating, shadow, border/fill etc in Gwenview.

Despite being labelled x11, I’m getting this in Wayland too… best edit that title.
