Can't Uninstall Discord Snap

This is the first issue I’m seriously struggling with in a long time. I tried to launch Discord (Snap version), but it simply won’t. I tried uninstalling it, but I get this error:

status-code=500 kind=(null) message=system does not fully support snapd: cannot mount squashfs image using “squashfs”:

mount: /tmp/syscheck-mountpoint-3983320642: /dev/loop23 already mounted or mount point busy.
dmesg(1) may have more information after failed mount system call.

I tried reinstalling snapd and squashfs, but that doesn’t work. Any ideas?

Seems like you already used that mount point.

Snaps, being lovely as they are, are all mounted during system start.

Yes, all of them, including all various versions, and even if you never open a snap program.

Clean up your snaps and restart.

You can look at them (and maybe see unnecessary duplicates) with

snap list

Interesting, I’ve never had to “clean up my snaps” before… Honestly, I don’t use them much. This is the output for “snap list”:

Is there a command to clean them up, or is that a dumb question?

Not dumb.

But snaps dont offer something perfectly easy.

There are some script-magiks to remove ‘disabled’ ones … but it appears none of yours are disabled.

Here is an example anyways
LANG=C snap list --all | awk '/disabled/{print $1, $3}' | while read -r snapname revision; do sudo snap remove "$snapname" --revision="$revision" ; done

But you do have multiples of a sort - multiple gnome’s and multiple core’s

If I were you and wanted to keep some of them, I would begin by removing any I dont need and aiming for the oldest iteration of any duplicates.

sudo snap remove gnome-3-28-1804

Here is the archwiki on snaps just because

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Snap

I tried that, but still get the same “error: system does not fully support snapd: cannot mount squashfs image using “squashfs”: -----”

Im wondering if there is something more largely wrong with the environment.

Is this system on bare metal?

Maybe lets get system info.
I notice your profile kernel is listed as 5.12, but that is not correct, right?

inxi -Farz

Yes, it’s on bare metal. The kernel is 6.8

Ah.
I forgot.
SNAPs do not work with kernel 6.8.
This is an ubuntu thing, and they apparently dont care.
There are some topics here on the matter.

In the meantime to use SNAP - try 6.6

oh, really? that’s kinda weird. I’ll just roll it back and then install the repo version. Thank you so much for your help!

Well sure enough, I rolled the kernel back and Bob’s yer uncle, it works now. Thank you again cscs!
