Can't open Waydroid, but can open the Waydroid Apps I have installed

Hi all,

I somehow mucked up my Waydroid install (I don’t really know what I did) :stuck_out_tongue:.

When I search Waydroid with Plasma Search, it does not show up, but all the apps that I installed in the Android emulator do show up.

A picture says 1000 words:

I can open an app (TiviMate for example) but can’t open just Waydroid.

Ideally, I would like Plasma Search to not show each individual app and instead show Waydroid and I will launch the app I want from inside Waydroid.

I did do some searching, but couldn’t find what terminal commands to run to post the outputs of in my support thread.

Thanks!

Neither do we, so you’ll have to tell us. Considering I know enough about Waydroid to fit on the end of a toothpick, I’ll list a few silly questions for consideration:

  • Are you running Plasma on X11? (Waydroid probably needs to be installed and run when using Wayland)
  • Where did you install waydroid from? Was it the AUR? (Officially unsupported by Manjaro/Arch, and recommended only to be used in the Unstable branch).
  • What was the procedure you used to install Waydroid? Which guide did you use? (link please).
  • Did you install everything that was required?
  • Did you reboot?

I’ll go out on a limb here and suggest that it might be expected to use those application launchers directly when you wish to launch a Waydroid app; the assumption being that the Run waydroid commandline should be run beforehand.

This might not be how this version of Waydroid is supposed to work.

Again, this is totally guesswork, as I’ve only played with Waydroid once, two years ago, and for a very limited time. So, all I can do is wish you luck.

You will find plenty of those in the links below; particularly, the first two.

Lets start with system information; post the output of:
