Can't login using GUI on fresh install

Hello, Linux noob here.

I just recently installed a fresh version of the latest Manjaro (I’m dual booting Windows 10 and Manjaro on separate ssd’s). I’m unable to login using the GUI. When I type in the password, the screen just blanks out for a few seconds and it puts me back on the login screen again. However, using tty2 I’m able to login. This is not my first time installing Manjaro, so I’m pretty certain I didn’t break anything during install.

I already reinstalled Manjaro once (first time I did manual partitioning with open source drivers but I thought I broke something so I reinstalled with proprietary drivers and I let Manjaro do the partitioning). I also tried doing the full system update and switched back to 5.10 LTS kernel, but this didn’t help.

One thing i noticed, while booting up, I don’t get any logs where it says [OK] in the beginning. I just get this (I also get this output when the screen blanks out when trying to login):

/dev/sda2: clean, 303582/13516800 files, 4248838/54041048 blocks

(it did not let me post a picture)

And, when restarting I just get:

watchdog: watchdog0: watchdog did not stop!

My logs:

journalctl -b -1 -p4  ✔

Hi! This is a “problem” with the latest KDE ISO. It installs Wayland in addition to X11 but due the alphabetic order, it is the default for manual login. In the login screen, notice the selection menu in the left bottom corner and make sure it uses X11.

As Wayland is still in development (specially when using it with KDE), for some this works fine, but for some (like you) it doesn’t work at all.

Edit: Just noticed that the latest ISO is 21.2.6. I know the problem exists in 21.2.5, but I haven’t check the 21.2.6 ISO
