Can't find the "magic lamp" effect on KDE plasma Wayland

I’m trying to find the Magic Lamp effect, but I don’t find it, it’s not called “Minimize”, since it isn’t even in my effects menu, I’m using Biglinux (based on Manjaro) in Kernel 7.0, can someone help me? If yes, thank you.

It’s moved to Animations. At least in CachyOS (Arch based).

I’m using Manjaro Testing, and I can’t find it either. Based on my search, it looks like it might not be available any more.

is there an “animations” tab in your settings? the magic lamp is there! hope I helped! Also, thanks again TheDubster!

Yes, and I see it there under squash… my apologies, I run my system with animations turned off. I should have set the slider to some value less than instant, and checked that way.

Oh, okay, its great that you found it!

No, this is just the KDE Developers having a f#$King laugh again…

Let’s take out a bunch of ‘effects’ and put them in an ‘Animations category’ so that now people can get more lost in settings trying to work out whether something is an ‘animation’ or an ‘effect’.

Let’s put a CLEAR link for anyone in Animations to make it clear that there are MORE of these under ‘Effects’ but let’s NOT put a similarly clear link in Effects to help folks find the missing items in Animations…

  • - More effects settings Animations
  • open/close windows (recommended Aura Glow set to 300mS)
  • Minimise - Magic Lamp 360mS
  • Peek = Window Aperture
  • Virtual desktop switching: Slide (does ANYONE use anything else??? this is just weird…)
  • Fading popups
  • Sliding popups
  • Login fade
  • Logout fade

After these comes a link to:

  • More effects settings Desktop Effects

Just a reminder too that this setting can easily be found by typing “lamp” or “magic” in Plasma’s System Settings search box:

Better still - type those words in krunner, why bother opening settings first?

When you have animations turned off it just instantly switches to the the requested virtual desktop.
