Can't boot after fresh install

I just did a fresh install with the “erase entire disk” option. There’s only my new manjaro installation and when I reboot the ThinkPad T540p, it won’t load GRUB and appears to be going to network boot. I checked my boot order and the HDD is definitely first.

I was able to get the following info from a terminal by using the Live USB:

EFI variables are not supported on this system.

Do i read well? You used a whole 8GB drive for a single 4MB EFI partition? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

All your disks are msdos parted, @dover19, have you booted the USB live ISO in BIOS mode? Manjaro’s installer ISO’s are of hybrid design, they can be booted in both, UEFI mode and BIOS mode. So you have to decide.

If you want to install in UEFI mode then prepare the gpt partition table upfront and boot the stick in UEFI mode. Then you need an ESP.

If you want to install in BIOS mode then disks are usually msdos parted and you should place the grub bootloader in the MBR of the disk you want to install Manjaro.

…hmmmm good point lol. That’s the USB stick with the ISO on it. I just went with the default options for the most part since I was erasing the entire disk. Sounds like it partitioned part of my USB stick instead of the internal HDD, but installed the OS on the HDD.

I’ll run through it again, I must have overlooked something. thx
