Can't associate .exe files with wine in KDE

I have *.exe set up in KDE File Associations to point to Wine Windows Program loader (or rather it was done for me when I installed wine), but whenever I click on an executable file it just brings up a blank ‘Open with…’ dialog box. I can click on ‘Show more’ to display various applications, but wine isn’t listed amongst them. Any way I can fix this? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Open a terminal window and run

xdg-mime default wine.desktop application/x-ms-dos-executable

Hopefully this will set Wine as the default handler for .exe files in your system.

Thanks for the reply bill_t. Unfortunately it didn’t make any difference. I’ve compared it to Fedora KDE and the link is set up the same but for some reason it’s just not picking it up.
