Cannot install new version of ffmpeg-full-git

I cannot seem to install ffmpeg-full-git ever since they enabled smbclient support, even though i do have the smbclient package installed.
I always get the error:

If you think configure made a mistake, make sure you are using the latest
version from Git. If the latest version fails, report the problem to the
ffmpeg-user@ffmpeg.org mailing list or IRC #ffmpeg on irc.freenode.net.
Include the log file “ffbuild/config.log” produced by configure as this will help
solve the problem.

Did you try the ffmpeg-full-git package in the AUR? It is version 4.4.r99491.g616eb93a40-1 so slightly older but I think it should work.

I did install an older version, but the concept of never updating it again seems bad

It will update once the package in the AUR gets updated. The package in the AUR was last updated on 8-10-2020 that’s yesterday so its being maintained.
