I cannot attach files&documents, the insert button doesn’t respond. All other buttons work properly.
cache, memory cleared, extensions closed.
Anybody an idea?
kernel Linux 61, tried it with 66 and 515 - the same.
I dont know, how long this problem exists, the last mail with attachements is 5 weeks back.
I have a tuxedo OS2 partition on my harddisk - there all works fine.
Hi @scops ,
All I can think of is the desktop portal…and I don’t know what DE you’re using. So, please provide the output of:
pamac search --installed desktop-portal
…as well as:
inxi --full --admin --filter --width

Since you use Xfce:
scops:
Desktop: Xfce
…try removing that one:
pamac remove xdg-desktop-portal-gnome
…since you’re not using Gnome.
Anything else:
And I’m guessing you did reboot? As I said:
Unknown. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯:

frustrating, thanks anyway
No worries. Another option would be ro remove your profile and start at the beginning:
mv ~/.config/vivaldi ~/.config/vivaldi.backup
This will (re)move your profile. Then it’s invisible for Vivaldi and you’ll have to start from scratch.
The last thing I can think of is migrating to another browser. I use Firefox and have absolutely no problems.

even if i use firefox, the problem persists
Then it seems to be something to do with Xfce rather than you browser…you could try resetting it to the default settings. See
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xfce#Troubleshooting
Specifically:
Restore default settings
If for any reason you need to revert back: to the default settings, rename ~/.config/xfce4-session/
and ~/.config/xfce4/
$ mv ~/.config/xfce4-session/ ~/.config/xfce4-session-bak $ mv ~/.config/xfce4/ ~/.config/xfce4-bak
Relogin for changes to take effect. If you get Unable to load a failsafe session
upon login, see the #Session failure section.

done, but unfortunately no change.
I have now also asked in the xfce forum, but have not yet received an answer there.
Thank you very much for your efforts - it will be a small thing, but which one?
My next, final and last suggestion is to see if this happens in other apps as well. Both Qt and GTK apps. And if it persists, to test it in a Live environment as well.
But my knowledge has officially ended. a While ago actually…

I have now installed the Snap version of Gmail and something strange is happening. When I click on the insert button, the pop-up window opens, but no files are displayed but rectangles - apparently no font files are found, because the squares match the file names exactly. I can attach a file and send the mail. Do you have any ideas?
