Cannot configure screen shutoff

I’ve been running Manjaro for years and I use KDE on most of my machines. My main desktop has 4 monitors and KDE was a disaster when I first built it so I went with Gnome. I just did a re-install, this time with KDE. Under Wayland, the monitors all work much better, they all find their position reliably (not the case with X11).

The one problem I still do have is the monitors will not shut off when configured. I have screen locking setup after 15 minuted, then I have “turn off screen” after 20 minutes in energy saving. I have no idea why settings is laid out like that. Anyway, the monitors will always start to shut off, I get a “no signal” display, then before the monitors actually shut off the backlights it wakes back up to the lock screen. Then it will loop like this forever until I interrupt it.

I have no idea why it wakes back up, that is what I am trying to figure out. 3 monitors are the same model, one is newer but this happens even with just the 3 same monitors hooked up (HDMI) Any Ideas?

Probably not much help here, but does it still happen without screen-locking set? Or maybe by setting the screen-locking to occur when the monitors are turned off?

Also some system info would be good … inxi -zv8

Yeah, I tried turning off screen locking and it still did it.

I found this post on Level1techs Monitor sleep issue - #9 by frred - Linux - Level1Techs Forums

The post from “tech_chicken” did it. I turned off the auto input selection for just the primary monitor and now it works. I’ve had this problem for years and I never thought of that.
