i have manjaro installed on my laptop and afterthe battery died i am unable to boot. it sends to an emergency terminal.
i dual boot with windows if thats useful at all
anytime i reboot or do ctrl + d i just get back to this. i tried reinstalling grub from a live usb and no change but maybe i did it wrong
You did chroot into the installed system, right? Also in cheroot you should perform an update of the system.

Some of you might have had it happen, a Linux installation on your computer that breaks after installing certain software, after installing updates or after editing a configuration file.
Sometimes you mess up so bad, that the entire system doesn’t boot past Grub or doesn’t even boot Grub itself if you messed around with its configuration files.
So what can you do when you really messed up big time?

i fixed the issue.
it was booting to a kernel that i had installed a month ago and never removed for testing a different issue. the ketnel worked when i installed it so no idea why it failed now. maybe cuz of some module stuff
anyways i removed it and updated grub and now everything is working
