Btrfs Sees Urgent Fix Following Recent Reports Of Log Tree Corruption

Any idea when this will be merged?

As soon as Arch adopts the patched kernel, which will probably be within the next 24 hours or so, if it hasn’t been adopted already.

Hi,

looks like a potentially serious btrfs bug has recently been triaged and fixed

https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/kdave/linux.git/commit/?h=for-6.17-fix&id=0a32e4f0025a74c70dcab4478e9b29c22f5ecf2f

I understand that the issue is more likely to bite in 6.15.3+, but the ultimate bug is old and present in the “stable” kernel as well, so that downgrading from the current manjaro 6.15.7 to 6.12.x is not a bulletproof recipe for avoiding data loss due to log corruption.

Because the patch is said to be relatively easy to backport, I wonder if it might be possible to get a downstream patched 6.15 or to get the 6.15.x with the upstream applied patch asap.

If possible many thanks. If not possible, still thanks for the attention!

Already patched in our kernel, not yet uploaded

It’s 6.15.9-2, right? The one that can be installed from Release 6.15.9-2 · manjaro-kernels/linux615 · GitHub?
