Brother Printer MFC-J4540DW

Hi!
my problem is quite simple : I don’t find any drivers for the new printer we have at home…
it’s a brother printer (MFC J4540DW), on brother website their are drivers but .deb and .rpm so… and I haven’t found any driver on AUR or officials website…
So can I use a driver from an other printer similar to mine or not? and If the answer is “absolutely not” what can I do?

thanks!
PS: english is not my mother tongue vous voyez, donc il y a forcement 15 erreurs d’orthographe et de grammaire à la ligne…

If you are unsuccessful in finding, take a look here:

okay, i will try this after my homework (so it can be maybe tomorrow). it is easier with rpm or deb?

edit : it will be tried in the next week-end

You might try the Brother website, they’re actually pretty good at keeping drivers available for Linux.

Although, they only have .deb and .rpms.

I was successful building these with .deb, however, I do not own this printer. My Brother Printer, HL3170CDW has drivers in AUR. I modified the sample PKGBUILD from the Arch Wiki.
