Brother HL 2030 no printing?

Hi there, I’ve got a little confusing problem with my printer, I some don’t understand the problem and didn’t find a solution so far.

When I want to print something an press the print-Button, I can see the printer’s LED blinking as it is supposed to to. But then, nothing happens, not even a noise. After a few seconds I get the message “printing completed” - but as I said, nothing happened.

Using my macbook with the same printer, it works just fine. So the printer is not the problem.

Does anybody know, what I could do about that?

Greetings from Lingen, Germany
Timo

The printer is brother HL 2030

Is the appropriate printer driver installed?

This should help to setup your printer via CUPS. If your printer has a PPD in the CUPS database, it should work for you.

There is also a Brother HL-2030 CUPS driver available via the AUR, which may (or may not) be a valid alternative.

Note that the AUR is not supported by Manjaro (or Arch). Any software installed from that source is used entirely at your own risk.

pamac build brother-hl2030

Otherwise :man_shrugging:

Cheers.

Also have a look at this:

CUPS is originally developed by Apple - so there is that.

The cups system works - you are simply using the wrong driver - please look up the correct PPD for your printer.

I have some old instructions I used when I was using a HL-2240D - the ppd file is not likely to be the same but when you find the correct ppd - just replace the mentioned ppd using the instructions from my archive Printer Drivers with the ppd you have found.

Just read to the bottom - there is a ppd for HL-2030 - could work …

Do you by chance mean the physical button on the Printer itself?

Thank you very much. That helped.

Do you by chance mean the physical button on the Printer itself?

No, I meant the “Drucken” (print in english) Button in the software.
