My motherboard went out on me, so I got a brand new, identical one. I moved everything over including the two NVMe drives I had in the old one. One for Manjaro, the other for Windows. I’ve been using this computer and Manjaro installation for well over a year (guess I got a bad motherboard)
When I power it on everything comes up just like it used to - I get the grub menu, and I can select either Manjaro or Windows. Windows will come right up, but when I select Manjaro, I get the following:
use USB iso manjaro
sudo lsblk -fs
sudo parted -l
sudo manjaro-chroot -a
exit ( end-chroot )
I think of reinstalling manjaro and checking if this issue appears on clean system
Reinstalled manjaro, as expected - issue doesn’t appear.
I can suspect only two packages:
They might have some conflicts with the system and cause this annoying issue. Tests are the only chance to figure out, will try with plank dock first.
I suspected this is possibly linked to the bug:
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=217174 but according the the version of the kernel, it should be fixed already, but the problem persists.
I have 3 installation of linux, Manjaro KDE, Manjaro XFCE and Garuda KDE, all of which stopped booting after their respective latest update, and I tried to switch to 5.15LTS kernel, it still fails after reboot.
I tried fresh install of Manjaro XFCE, system boots up fine after install, but no longer works after system update. Tried both 6.x kernel and 5.15 LTS, same problem.
I guess this has something to do with my practice of running linux via USB drives. For now I see no way of resolving this but to keep running the system without updates
it looks like this issue:
I installed Manjaro a few weeks back, after using Debian based distros for years.
It worked perfectly till I recently installed updates. After that boot fails with the messages in the screenshot.
Since I reinstalled it twice. It always booted up fine at first, then I installed updates and afterwards it fails to boot.

Any idea what the problem is?
Thanks in adv…
downgrading or not udpating (blacklisting from update) mkinitcpio helps
ahh this makes a lot more sense, i think this is what’s going on. I guess i’ll just withhold the updates for a while until it’s fixed. It’ll be a hassle to confirm the issue was fixed tho
