Hi,
I am trying to connect to my smart-phone from my manjaro desktop PC using bluetooth. Both, the cdl and the gui often return the following error when attempting to pair:
Failed to connect: org.bluez.Error.Failed br-connection-unknown
.
I installed the bluetooth software: pamac install manjaro-bluetooth
and set AutoEnable=true
in the configuration file.
Here is a summary of the commands + output I used:
(base) [dejhost@Workstation ~]$ bluetoothctl devices
Device 74:5C:4B:A3:A0:55 Jabra GN
bluetoothctl agent on
bluetoothctl scan on
...
[NEW] Device 7C:38:AD:5C:C5:D1 Galaxy S10
...
(base) [dejhost@Workstation ~]$ bluetoothctl pair 7C:38:AD:5C:C5:D1
Attempting to pair with 7C:38:AD:5C:C5:D1
[DEL] Device 4D:06:8D:4A:D2:12 4D-06-8D-4A-D2-12
[CHG] Device 7C:38:AD:5C:C5:D1 Connected: yes
My phone shows a passkey (which I confirm, though I cannot see a passkey on my desktop), and then the desktop says:
Failed to pair: org.bluez.Error.AuthenticationFailed
Where would I enter this passkey on the desktop? Any hint much appreciated!
Olli

hello @dejhost
please post the output of the mandatory
inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width
first. this will give us infos about the used kernel, distro, hardware. otherwise it’s just digging in the dark.

question: you’re running the actual kernel 6.xxx series. there are several issues already reported with networking. did this issue occured on former kernels in the past ?
welcome to the club: is this a dongle of the “hama” brand ?
you can try to install the depreceated “bluez-utils-compat” package that supports hci-modes not used in the actual bluez-utils package.
question:
what kind of bluetooth-devices do you wanna connect ? some esoteric devices ?
I am not using BT regularly. I remember that I connected my smartphone earlier, but this might be 2 years ago or so.
The dongle is an earlier version of this one here
Right now, I am testing connectivity with my Samsung GAlaxy S10 and a Zagg keyboard . My goal is to execute python script using a BT-remote control. So in the longrun, I could use s.th. like this . Let me know, if you have a recommendation for the hardware (avoid compatibility issues). A simple remote with a few simple buttons would do.
bluez was already installed. I tried using the GUI - and it works:
Thank you, Olli!
