Black Screen on logout and/or change user

Two machines, same updates - Gnome testing.
The machine running x11 produces a black screen when “logout” or “change user”
the Machine running Wayland is not affected by the error.
On the machine running x11:
It is possible to switch to a tty, login and startx brings back the DE (Gnome)
I did not manage to switch this machine to wayland yet…
After fresh install using live-medium (Vulcan) the problem goes away,
When changing to x11 - because of using Plank :innocent: no problem;
but after updating to “testing” the problem appears…

EDIT: only autologin for user 1000 is working, otherwise only black screen.

I can’t reproduce it. Try downgrading mutter from 45.2-1.0 back to 45.2-1. I added MR 3329 to fix restarting GNOME Shell on X11. You could also switch to the unstable branch and test 45.3-1 / 45.3-1.0.

Did not help…
Now the black screen is blinking gray to black, hopefull I presume?

What did not help? Maybe my Mutter patch is unrelated. :man_shrugging:

switching to unstable did not change the blackscreen after logout. BUT
Now restarting gdm (x11) via alt F2 r is working

That’s what the patch included with 45.2-1.0 & 45.3-1.0 fixes.

Did you test 45.2-1 or 45.3-1?

Tested 45.2-1.0 and 45.3-1.0 and 45.2-1

gdm now restarting on x11 may be because of gnome-shell 45.3-1

New installation; new /home/user directory ===> works (Manjaro stable).
Now trying to switch to testing…
Timeshift…
Success - former /home/user was previously used with Ubuntu(?)
Problem solved - hopefully…
