I updated the system using Pacman a few hours ago. And i was using it for a few hours after that as well. I had to close my laptop and I shut down. When I turned it back on, it would go through grub as usual and after selecting manjaro it just shows the loading screen for a second and goes to a black screen(with display still on) I tried Ctrl+Alt+F-keys and no tty came up. I chrooted using a live usb and tried to reinstall the kernel but that was of no help.
Please help me out
The update may not have finished properly in the first place.
The computer will keep running until you shut it down.
The fact that is does not come back up supports the speculation that the update did not finish.
boot a live usb and chroot
and run the update again
and install a second kernel as a backup while you are at it.
Do not just install a kernel - run the update again and then, when you have verified that the update finished without errors, install a second kernel.
pacman-mirrors -f
pacman -Syyu
then, if all went well, install the second kernel

Sorry, i did try updating again when i was in chroot. I’ll try using a second kernel. Which do i use? i was on linux61

some LTS kernel I’d say
linux515 or linux66 or both
How do you install the kernel?
If Nvidia graphics is involved, I’m running away 
because I have zero experience with those.

I have only the standard ideas:
hit ESC during boot so you can see the messages
or disable plymouth by editing /etc/default/grub and removing “quiet” and “splash” from the kernel command line
and/or examine the last log
journalctl -b -1
(not sure on the number - look up -b in man journalctl)

I just reinstalled my kernel and its headers as well. Seems to work fine as of now.
