Black screen after update 6.1.44

I recently ran updates from the package manager, which I believe was to kernel 6.1.44 (~160 packages updated).

After doing so, it suggested reboot which I did. In GRUB additional options, it shows its on 6.1.44. When I select it, the screen goes black, no other TTYs work either (black screen).

In manjaro-chroot from a live usb to the manjaro partition, pacman says it’s up to date.

Still in manjaro-chroot from a live usb to the majaro partition, running “uname -a” gives me the following:

which shows it loaded 6.1.30?

Just wondering where I should go from here. Any help is appreciated.

Does this mean you were previously using an earlier version of kernel 6.1 and it was updated?
Or that you changed kernels from some other series?

From chroot you can do:

mhwd-kernel -li
pacman -Qs linux[1-9]

Which should show us whats installed.

While I understand that my reply raised another potential topic, I think it is not completely worthless for this topic to know, that the proposed solution (install 6.4 from live system) from Wollie did in fact work for someone, even if there might be caveats which may or may not be related.

The recent 6.1.49 seems to fix the problem.
