Black laptop screen

My laptop shot itself at 2% sometime last week due to a power outage. When our light was restored, and I powered it on, I was met with a black screen. At first, I thought my screen was completely dead but it turns out that it was still visible when I flashed a torch at it and KDE could still recognize the screen.

What does this mean?

Was it 2% of an update attempt?

No. I was not running any update at the time. My battery got to 2% then it shutdown.

I saw a post were someone said they changed kernel and it fixed itself but that’s not the case for me.

I see. So now, the screen is somehow dimmed but otherwise the Manjaro installation seems to work as expected.

Does that describe the situation?

At face value, it seems more like a hardware problem resulting from the unexpected blackout, than with Manjaro.

Ya. I only created this here because I saw someone with similar issue. Either way, I’ll be taking it to a technician today.

I see. Hopefully it’s something minor.

It was a hardware issue, a capacitor blew up. Well it cost about $15 (₦15k) to fix.

Thanks for your prompt replies!
