This means that your biber (2.19) and biblatex (3.17) versions are incompatible.

When I search for biblatex, I end up with biber as a result. So this is confusing to me. Where am I going wrong?

Moderator edit: In the future, please use proper formatting: [HowTo] Post command output and file content as formatted text

Remove the intermediate files like aux and probably bbl, bcf, and basically everything exept the tex file.

It seems you created the bbl with the old biblatex version which is now not supported by the new biber version.

Ahhh that was it!! From the error output I assumed it was two software versions on my system that were incompatible!

So you do seem to know everything

Thanks for the help!
