baloo_file keeps crashing since the last stable update 2020-12-30. For sure at each system start and sometimes in between, but I didn’t find the exact pattern here.

I have tried to purge the index several times, enabling/disabling the service, but that didn’t fixed it in the end. Search results based on the index are ok though. Someone on the arch bug tracker had the exact same error (Nr. 69144, not allowed to post links yet) yesterday, but it was closed as duplicate and I didn’t find something enlightend in the original bug report.

Same problem here and here, although for me it doesn’t crash but just returns no results.
It seems it instead shows empty lines for everything it would have found.

Have the “same” problem" as you, found here. I have begun using ksearch (Alt+space) until this problem is resolved.

Same problem, baloo isn’t working. I could solve it temporarily yesterday after tinkering but it will stop to work again, maybe when you restart the system.
The temporary procedure is:

this

balooctl disable
balooctl purge
systemctl reboot
balooctl enable
balooctl monitor

The last one is optional, but you can tell when it finishes. If it doesn’t work try again. I did it a couple of times.

I found a bug report on the KDE bug tracker saying that this will be fixed with KDE Frameworks 5.78.

I updated to KDE Frameworks 5.78 with latest stable, purged an rebuilded the index. Haven’t had a crash yet.

i still have those errors on shutdown and startup.
sometimes it affects the time it takes to shutdown.
