I’m having issues with sound, but only in Firefox. Before the update, I was able to listen to audio being played in Firefox (both regular audio and videos) as well as being able to listen to audio in VLC, but now only VLC has audio support.
I suspect this is due to something changing in pipewire. Running pw-top while playing a video in Firefox shows that it is doing something. However, VLC doesn’t even appear in the list.
I’m still trying to figure out what’s going on, but it probably is using the wrong “backend” (I’m not sure if that’s the right term here).
Creating a new profile (about:profiles) would be a first quick check. What desktop are you using? I presume you looked already into the audio controls (pavucontrol &)?
Thanks for answering! Actually, I figured out the problem (not yet the solution, though): it seems that the issue is that Firefox is using my graphics card to output audio, not the rear output ports.
The output device can be selected per application. So depending on your desktop environment or audio control application - well, in pavucontrol for instance under the Playback tab one sees a list of all applications playing audio and on each entry one can select the output device.
