Audacity speed problem

Hello everyone,

i have a strange behavior with Audacity. 2 days ago everything worked fine, then i got a speed problem.
I did not change anything on the settings and un/installed the application. Also deleting the config files.
Nothing seems to solve the problem.

If i record now, seconds are like minutes. Upon playback, everything is very fast. Though the Hz is at 44100, which it supposed to.
So strange. There were some updates recently, but i think they were for plasma and not audio related.
Did anyone experienced something similar?

How can i find out what the problem is?

I found errors in the console. Usually i do not start it via console.

Since i am a little of a dummy, i wonder if i need to reinstall Alsa or something else.
I installed the community version of Audacity.

Just an update.

The problem persist. Though on Windows it seems to work but there i have only a low volume for some reason.
I think it has to do with the chipset on my computer. The board is over 5 years old and has Realtek chipset.

I may invest some money i a dedicated soundcard. I am not so technical knowledgeable that i have a grip on the problem. Even a re-install of Manjaro did not actually change anything. So that is why i think it may be my board.

I’m no expert, but I think you should try to take a look to the “Qas” tools, in your “sound & video” menu. One tool should lead you to the bitrate slider, which is probably set with the wrong value.

Actually, i solved the problem for me in getting a USB Phono Drive.
This made the line-in obsolete for me and the hassle.
I believe that it had nothing to do with Audacity or/and Manjaro. Rather it seems to be a problem of no signal arriving at the port or too little anyway.
The device i had gotten is the ART Phono Plus. This is much more of a pleasure now and Audacity shows now real sound again.
Though there is still in my mind the question how it did work before for awhile. mmm… well.
