I would lean to it being something else because when I tried vlc-rpi it had a screen resolution limit with HW decoding and you are able to play a file locally.
Installed “clapper” on Opi5-Plus on mainline kernel 6.14. clapper will stream <30fps 1090p h264 Youtube with vpu hw acceleration (hardware decode).
Local h264 1080/60 video on hardware decode. Local VP9 1080p/60 video on software decode.
Clapper less flexible that mpv with v4l2request (thanks to @junari) support media player as on mpv can use yt-dlp to filter and stream only h264 Youtube videos.
With the right kernel like MiniArch Kernel or linux-6.14 Clapper has vpu hw acceleration out of the box (i.e. provide with the correct gstreamer plugins, gst-libav and clapper-enhancers installed). In a way, clapper is easier to get vpu hw acceleration working than mpv on mainline kernel.
By the way, on bsp kernel-6.1 clapper does not seem to support vpu hw acceleration.
chromium doesn’t load:
/usr/lib/chromium/chromium: error while loading shared libraries: libicui18n.so.75: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
icu is at 76.1.1 - is that the issue?
Oops! found the separate thread and temp fixed…
Hi, thanks for your post, I hope a solution for you, see below the link
Synced arch-arm with unstable when the mirrors sync. 1099 packages.
pinetab2 starts with the dev
kernel linux-rc 6.14.0-rc7
, but has no screen output.
my last working kernel is linux-rc 6.9.0-rc5
(KDE-Plasma 6.3.4 / Wayland)
dev-kernel:
With today’s update on unstable I had 2 old installs that had a package that is not in the repo that does not depend on anything any more. I had to remove rest
before I could update. It had a dependency issue with a newer lib.
I will be doing the update at later time. Probably in the afternoon my time. 2025-05-06T05:00:00Z→2025-05-06T07:00:00Z
