Edit: just in case this may help some other newb like yours truly:
To fix the uboot 2021.10 issue, you have to disable the eMMC on the board switch, then insert an SD card with a recent manjaro arm image on it, power up the pinebook pro, and while the u-boot countdown is rolling you flip the eMMC switch back, so it boots from your existing installation.
Then reinstall the uboot-pinebookpro package from pamac (doing so will downgrade it to 2021.07, as of present date) and run the dd commands listed on pamac’s update log.
Hi, couple of questions, hope I’m not being overly off-topic - after updating, I have the same uboot issue on my Pinebook Pro - the led stays orange and it won’t boot.
I’ve disabled the eMMC through the hardware switch but still can’t seem to boot from the SD card (same behavior - with borked SD image or no SD card, pressing the power button does nothing; with a supposedly working SD card (Armbian_21.08.1_Pinebook-pro_hirsute_edge_5.13.12_xfce_desktop.img) the led lights up orange but still won’t boot either).
Did you have to mess around with the SPI to make it boot from SD, or did it work outright after bypassing the eMMC switch?
Assuming I do manage to boot from some other SD card image, is simple to manually restore the previous working uboot without having to nuke my whole existing installation?
Thanks!
