Arch Instructions for Fprint on XFCE not working

Hi all,

I have been struggling to get the option to authenticate via my Fingerprint reader, but am not being prompted to use my fingerprint when I login.

I followed the Arch Fprint guide (I am not able to link to it).

My hardware is:
Bus 003 Device 003: ID 27c6:609c Shenzhen Goodix Technology Co.,Ltd. Goodix USB2.0 MISC
Which is listed as one of the supported fingerprint readers.

Specifically, I tried both:
auth sufficient pam_fprintd.so
and
auth sufficient pam_fprintd_grosshack.so
in
/etc/pam.d/system-local-login, /etc/pam.d/lightdm and /etc/pam.d/lightdm-greeter.

I have also enrolled via fprintd-enroll and verified with fprintd-verify.

Despite this, I am not prompted for my fingerprint. What, if anything, am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Hello,

But for the prompt you need the UI … so take a look at Fingerprint GUI - ArchWiki
Just bare in mind the warning at the end …

Hm…in fingerprint-gui, Finger Print devices is listed as “No devices found” and my should-be device has this error:

unknown vendor (0x27c6) unknown device (0x609c)

This is after adding my user to the scanner group and rebooting, as the instructions say.

It appears that’s not a supported device:

27c6: Goodix
