Another Wayland inquiry - 560 series drivers required with Nvidia/Wayland?

Usually I might use a combination of commands, like this:

sudo pacman-mirrors --continent && sudo pacman -Syu

--continent can be substituted for --fasttrack, if desired.

And if you happen to use any packages from the AUR, I might use this combination;

sudo pacman-mirrors --continent && sudo pacman -Syu && pamac update

Notice updating packages from the AUR (with pamac) is always best after using pacman to update from the Manjaro repositories.

Cheers.

Ok, noted. After a few complains (missing folders → /var/lib/mhwd/db/usb , …/…/local/usb) which I simply create, the downgrade gave me the 565.57 Nv drivers. Now I have a fine Wayland desktop on Nvidia. It seems perfectly functional.

So suggestion: may be those drivers should be push further into the manjaro branches. There may be still some issues but it is preferable then a black screen. !

I’m sure they will be whenever they are ready. I’m glad you’re back on track with Wayland. I’ve been using it as my default with KDE for a year with no insurmountable issues. Of course, I use AMD graphics, which has probably made all the difference.

Incidentally, I found this link mentioned in another thread which might be interesting for passers-by with similar issues:

Best regards.

Thanks for the link.The desktop was ok before but since this is a test machine, I made a partition image before and implement the mods from the article. I didn’t see much difference but at least it didn’t break anything. That said, the desktop is very smooth including games, videos, Youtube, etc… even with my terrible GT1030 card.

The only unknown is how the changes will survive and not interfere with updates. It may be better to implement those changes in a released version.

Much appreciate the help my friend. Instructive tread also. Wayland is obviously the future.
