Annoying bug with a specific keyboard layout

Hi,

I waited for the latest KDE update before doing this post hoping that something could be different.

I use a Greek keyboard layout and more specifically the “Greek (Sun type 6/7)”. The problem with this layout (it’s not happening with the rest 5 Greek layouts) is that it appears as “English US” despite I can type Greek characters without a problem.

I call it annoying because sometimes when I’m at the login screen (especially after resuming from sleep) it happens that I used the Greek layout and left it unchanged but in the login screen it appears as English US and a couple of times I was locked out because I typed the password with Greek characters.

Any ideas on how I can fix this wrong label thing ?

Thanks in advance.

maybe this thread from the archlinux forum helps:
The new plasma login manager?

Thanks for the reply.

for me the X11 keymap is set

I use two layouts, one is the English US (with € sign on 5) and the other one is the Greek Sun Type 6/7. The English US is the primary layout as well as the locale of my system. The greek layout is secondary so to be able to write Greek. But it appears as English US except the flag which is correct. Unfortunately the plasma login screen doesn’t show the Flag icon otherwise it would be easier to notice that the keyboard is switched to Greek.

jep, same here using us and de.
i usualy work around it by making the password readable.

So it seems it’s not only me and my specific layout. Weirdly though that the rest layouts don’t have this problem.

A guy in the KDE forum suggested to create my own layouts and provided me with a tutorial too.

You may find it useful.

Thanks for sharing.
Now I can finally create a layout that fits my geeky65 perfectly.
I’ve been helping myself out with the pc86. Its key codes work, but the layout looks completely different in the preview. I just have 18 fewer keys.
