Analog stereo not detected. No audio profile for sound

I have the following issue with my sound softeware: Because there is no analog stereo available it sets audio profile to dummy output.A remove and install of pulse or pipewire both give the same problem.

Your Realtek chipset uses the SoundWire interface and not the old HDA. Do you have old configurations that instruct to use the old snd_hda_intel driver? You need to use the SOF driver here and also have the latest sof-firmware package.

latest sof-firmware was installed. I cannot find any config in suggested path /etc/modprobe.d/

any suggestions of other locations of old configurations?

If you need to completely remove the module from the system, you can also use modprobe to remove it manually:

sudo modprobe -r snd_hda_intel

This unloads the module immediately, but it will reload on reboot unless blacklisted.
 For permanent removal, ensure the module is blacklisted in /etc/modprobe.d/.

You’re misinterpreting what you are reading:

The comment you quoted directs you to:

  1. Remove the module from the system. It then states that you can also use modprobe to remove it manually:
sudo modprobe -r snd_hda_intel
  1. Then it tells you the module will unload immediately; but it will be reloaded on next boot unless it is first blacklisted.
    To avoid that, the module must be blacklisted via a file in /etc/modprobe.d/ – which you must create – for example:
sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-intel-hda.conf

:point_right: Add to that file blacklist snd_hda_intel, save and exit Nano.

  1. The next step is to update initramfs:
sudo mkinitcoio -P
  1. And lastly reboot.

You seem to have some difficulty understanding.

The post by @nikgnomic is merely an evaluation of the information you have provided. The only implication might be that the audio device is not being detected correctly, whether or not it “worked before”.

Perhaps it’s a configuration issue.
Perhaps snd_hda_intel is being blacklisted unnecessarily.

I corrected your misunderstanding of command output you quoted, in my previous post.

If, however, you misinterpreted that to mean you should follow the explanation given, as if they were instructions that you should perform, then that would mean snd_hda_intel is indeed currently blacklisted.

If that’s the case, please also note the procedure given to reverse that.

According to the link kindly provided by @nikgnomic only kernels 5.18 through 6.12 currently support snd_hda_intel.

Thank you all for the clarification and additional possible solutions.
@nikgnomic suggestion did not work.

I also tried and reverted the blacklisting as described by @soundofthunder, to no avail.

It seems like a stretch, but I have a file called pm_blacklist in /sys/module/snd_hda_intel/parameters/pm_blacklist with the contents of -1. However, I am not permitted to make changes here so the file seems pretty crucial.

My kernel is 6.12.48-1 so I should encounter no issues there.

Anything under /sys is a virtual filesystem. It is information about the system, which the kernel exports to userspace in the form of a filesystem.

  1. Install latest kernel (6.18.0) using Manjaro Settings Manager GUI or:

    sudo mhwd-kernel -i linux618

  2. Reboot system and run ALSA diagnostic

    sudo alsa.info.sh --no-upload
