I would say it happens because of the removal of X11 since v49 See:

Nvidia 470xx doesn’t work with wayland, therefore it works only in Xwayland. I would guess that it is the lack of GBM support (GPU acceleration), which is a prerequisite for new GTK4 applications such as Nautilus or Gnome Settings, so a “Renderer-Collapse”.

Try to run it like this for testing purpose:

nautilus -q && GDK_RENDERER=software GSK_RENDERER=gl nautilus

In any case, it’s not a good idea to continue using Gnome with this old Nvidia GPU and the 470xx driver. Switch to XFCE, for example, which still has X11 support.

nautilus -q && GDK_RENDERER=software GSK_RENDERER=gl nautilus                                                                                                          ✔

If your hardware cannot handle Gnome using Wayland - there is not much one can suggest or do…

  • Gnome is Gnome - this is how it is.
  • Nvidia is Nvidia - this is how it is.

The following is only an idea - I don’t know if it will work for you - I have nothing better to suggest.

If so, then the only option would be the nouveau driver. Remove the offical nvidia as @linux-aarhus suggested and nouveau will take place after a reboot. This driver supports GBM.

In your case, it must be (just guessing):

sudo mhwd --install pci video-linux
sudo mhwd --remove pci video-nvidia-470xx
reboot

However you can check which config is actually installed: mhwd --listinstalled

sudo mhwd --install video-nvidia-570xx
Error: invalid use of option: -i/--install

Usage: mhwd [OPTIONS] <config(s)>

--pci list only pci devices and driver configs
--usb list only usb devices and driver configs

  -f/--force force reinstallation

  -lh/--listhardware list hardware information
  -i/--install <usb/pci> <config(s)>	install driver config(s)

I use this post and right now I can use my system
I try install
sudo mhwd --install video-nvidia-570xx
but GDM not starting and I can not get shell by ALT+SHIFT+F2

Moderator edit: Corrected glaring typo…

Because 570xx has no support for a GT730. You can probably install it, but it will not work.

Remove the video-nvidia - and install video-linux (opensource)

mhwd -r pci video-nvidia-570xx
mhwd -i pci video-linux

I do not know why after remove nvidia drive and use open source driver of nvidia my system is slow and has some lags
Please help me to find cause and fix it.

Nouveau is a open sourve driver that is not maintained by Nvidia.

Unfortunately it don’t have the same performance of the proprietary one.

Maybe this slow response is caused by some wrong setting, but maybe is the driver itself.

The refresh rate or your monitor is corrected set?

I set 1920*1080(16:9)
and refresh rate is 75.00 Hz

After remove Nvidia driver Gnome is slow and specially google chrome is very slow and I see lags

Have you tried to set the refresh rate to 60.

I find problem I use telegram desktop app , after remove it and use telegram web everything be OK and I have less lags and freeze
