I updated the system today. Then, wanted to play a game that worked flawlessly before (Shovel Knight), but it didn’t start. I decided to reboot, thinking that might solve it after the update. Trying to reboot or shutdown manually fro the menu didn’t work… So I turned the machine down by pressing the power button (it is set to turn off that way).
After that, it never booted, I only got a blank screen. Luckily I use TimeShift, so I switched to tty2 and restored the system to prior the update. I tried again, checking with pacman -Syu, nothing seemed out of the ordinary (three packages were newer than the community versions, two of those some Deepin packages). The result was the same. I restore the system again and didn’t update since (the update does require Linux 419 headers, not sure which package and whether this is relevant).
I’m not sure if it’s relevant, but about a week ago I updated the Nvidia drivers to video-hybrid-intel-nvidia-455xx-prime. There were no major issues that I couldn’t solve as a result of this driver update (HDMI sound didn’t work initially).
Everything works now, but at least some of my personal settings seem to have been reset. I had to set up Firefox and Telegram again, not sure about other stuff.
I don’t dare to update for now. What can I do to locate the issue and circumvent it?
