After update: Audio device gone, desktop background white

He there!
Today I installed the current updates with pamac from the mirrors from repo.manjaro.org. Just after re booting there are several problems.
Most obvious: the background pic on the desktop is gone. The desktop is now snowy white.
More disturbing: the audio is not working andmore. The internal audio device is not showing in the audio-adjustments dialog anymore.

Is there something that went wrong during the update? Have other useres experienced similar things?

I confirm the same thing with regards to audio being gone - no audio devices visible all of a sudden. I’m using pipewire and pipewire-pulse.

Thanks I had the same problem with today’s update (just not the white screen) and the solution on Reddit fixed it for me too. Wonder how many others are affected by this and don’t know about the solution… It lost me a good few hours today uninstalling pipewire, then installing pulseadio again, still not getting my keyboard’s volume controller working. But this did the trick and everything seems back to normal.

Hey @sundbp and @danie : which solution on reddit are you refering to? The first one that is just a link to an archlinux forum? There are several different suggestions, so I’m still hesitating and afraid to mess up things even more when trying them all…

check for pacnew files after every update. There are 2 pacnew files related to pipewire that came in with this stable update. You need to manually apply these pacnew files. Copying it is a solution but it is important you know what it is you are doing. I use pacdiff as a helper to do it.

Had the same problem minus the whitescreen after updating this morning, the fix from reddit worked.
Everything is picked up & working correctly now.
