After the update I have an additional Manjaro entry in GRUB menu

I have a disk with Windows 11 and another one with Manjaro.

Before this update I had the following grub menu:

Is Fastboot disabled in Windoze?

I think so (I am not sure 100%).

Edited : Yes, it is disabled (I just checked).

Removed.

That should have been Fast Startup (in Windows), but I suppose you managed to figure that out.

I hadn’t even noticed the difference

Sorry, I was absolutely wrong in my explanation : the new entry in the grub (/dev/nvme1n1p2) refers to the manjaro partition, not a Microsoft reserved partition (/dev/nvme0n1p2).

So my question is:
before the update, grub was

  • Manjaro Linux
  • Options avancées pour Manjaro Linux
  • Window Boort Manager
  • UEFI firmware Settings
  • Memory Tester

and after the update it becomes

  • Manjaro Linux
  • Options avancées pour Manjaro Linux
  • Window Boot Manager
  • Manjaro Linux (on /dev/nvme1n1p2)
  • Options avancées pour Manjaro Linux
  • UEFI firmware Settings
  • Memory Tester

The kernels shown in the sub menus of one Manjaro entry are 6.13.0-1 and 6.12.11-1 when the kernels shown in the sub menus of the other one Manjaro entry are 6.13.1-2 and 6.12.12-2 which are more recents. I expected grub continues to show one Manjaro entry after the update : the one which refers to the newest kernels.

I had the same thing happen to me with the previous upgrade. Still no solution.

I think something went wrong with your update as you are still running 6.13.0 and not 6.13.1 kernel. Maybe try to redo it.

What grub are you using?

pacman -Qi grub

As I said previously The kernels shown in the sub menus of one Manjaro entry are 6.13.0-1 and 6.12.11-1 when the kernels shown in the sub menus of the other one Manjaro entry are 6.13.1-2 and 6.12.12-2 which are more recents.

When I made the inxi command, I did not see that one grub Manjaro entry refered to 6.13.0-1. Selecting the right grub entry I have:

System:
  Kernel: 6.13.1-2-MANJARO arch: x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 14.2.1

As shown by fdisk, I have only one Linux partition (BTRFS) so I don’t understand why two Manjaro grub entries.

Nom: grub
Version: 2:2.12-3

I seem to recall that there is a package grub-btrfs
and with you using that file system, that should probably also be installed.

I know that I have removed it since I don’t run btrfs - it was installed by default.

grub-btrfs was installed by default. All previous updates worked without problems. Only this last one added an additional entry to grub menu.

I note the additionally entries have odd osprober* IDs

Suspecting a mess with the snaphots (made automatically by grub-btrfs), I made a new one of the current system (with the last version of kernel) and I removed all others snapshots. Then I did update-grub and I rebooted.
The weird additional entry is no more present so the problem is solved (even if I cannot explain what happened).

Edit: May be it is linked to the fact that I restored a previous snapshot when I saw the US keyboard problem. The problem started when I applied again the update.

Please check your snapshots again in, say, three months to make sure there is no mess any more
