First time time posting here, so if you need more info ask for it and have me patience as I still new on linux, at least on some things.
Basically as the title says, before the update I was running kernel 6.11 and my game controller (Xbox controller) worked fine via usb and using the wireless dongle (using Xone from the AUR, focus on the usb part) but after the update it would not connect. Tried switching to kernel 6.12 and still it wouldn’t work, after that I tried kernel 6.6 and it worked flawlessly.
I’ve looked around before making this post and could find anything related, even tried posting reddit without getting a reply. Did a quick check just reading the Arch documentation on gamepads and it says that if the xbox 360 game pad (mine is the Xbox series controller) shows when using the lsusb command it will not show up as an input, wich I tried just to see if the system recognized the controller and both the controller and the dongle shows up using lsusb.
Another thing that I don’t know if is important is that normally when I connect the controller to the pc it vibrates and light up the xbox button but on the kernels if which don’t work it just vibrates.
If someone can help I will thank you a lot, otherwise I’m stuck on kernel 6.6 to play games
There is no reason not to continue using kernel 6.6 (LTS) for the time being; in fact, in situations like these, it’s typically recommended.
It can often take a while for a kernel to be considered widely stable for general use, and 6.12 is no exception.
On the positive side, it’s likely to become the next LTS kernel sometime soon, but I understand it’s not quite there yet.
Never consider yourself stuck on an LTS kernel.
One of the reasons they exist is to maximise compatibility over a wide range of hardware, and provide a workable core while others are constantly being tweaked .
Hi @Superhero3230 and welcome to the Manjaro community.
As a new forum user, please take some time to familiarise yourself with Forum requirements; in particular, the many ways to use the forum to your benefit:
The Update Announcements should be checked frequently for important update related information.
These announcements contain a Known Issues and Solutions section and should generally be checked before posting a request for support.
Please provide system information according to forum requirements in the links listed (above). The output of the following command may be useful for those wishing to help:
inxi --admin --verbosity=8 --filter --no-host --width
Be prepared to provide more information and outputs from other commands when asked.
Regards.
Thanks for the reply, I did check the “Known issues and solutions” before updating and for the last days, just didn’t see anything related with the issue I have. Here’s my system info:

I want to add that there is no issue using the controller connected through bluetooth
As your controller works flawlessly with Kernel 6.6 (LTS) this is your best workaround. Perhaps try 6.12 occasionally to see what support (if any) might have been added. You can monitor the release progress of the Linux kernel at https://www.kernel.org/ at any time.
Thanks for the system information. In this case it wasn’t needed.
Though, you should probably add some swap
space at your earliest convenience; as it stands, you have none. Swap is required if you ever wish to hibernate your machine or for applications that may require it.
Your BIOS is 1.5 years old. If a later (non-beta) BIOS exists (downloadable from the manufacturer website) consider updating it. The latest BIOS may contain new features and/or critical security updates, and can often be a fix for random issues.
Regards.
Thanks again for the reply, I just updated the bios as suggested and I’ll think about the swap (I’ve never set a desktop pc to hibernate, is also on a ups).
Just want to emphasize that I was running the system without issues on kernel 6.11 before the update, which led me to believe something during the updated caused the issue.
Apologies, I obviously misread.
However, there is no reason then not to continue using kernel 6.11 for a while longer, until 6.12 is more settled (possibly when it becomes LTS).
Well, that’s the issue. Before the update on 6.11 everything was fine, after the update the controller wouldn’t connect anymore on 6.11 so I tried with different kernels, first the following update (6.12) without success and then the latest LTS kernel (which I always keep installed, 6.6 at the time), that’s when I noticed that whatever changed didn’t affect that version.
Notice the update in discussion is the [Stable Update] 2024-11-30, no longer the latest one
Remaining with kernel 6.11 would seem the obvious solution for now; I dare day there are no rabbits to be pulled out of hats that might help until when perhaps a future 6.12.x iteration might become better suited.
Either that, or kernel 6.6 (LTS) which you say also performed without issue.
It might be my solution for the time being, I’ll try today’s update (I never update without waiting for people to report issues but I’ll risk it).
If it solves the issue I’ll update the post, otherwise I’ll let the topic die. I tried
However, I’m happy to leave this open for the time being, in case others have any constructive input.
Regards.

Well I feel like a complete ignorant right now but found the solution/culprit/reason.
I remembered that I had Timeshift configured about 2 months ago so restored an image of my system from 11-nov, the problem was not present and it was running kernel 6.10… .I guess I overlooked the fact that 6.10 was removed on the update
Quickly switched to 6.11 and the controller wouldn’t connect anymore, without updating anything else…
So the answer is, I guess 6.11 dropped support for Xbox Series controllers via USB…which sounds wild to me because I just tried my PS3 controller via usb and it worked.
I’m marking the previous reply as the solution but it would be nice if someone could replicate my issue on their end. Also I’m adding an image of the files from an update that did while ignoring every other update available and refreshing database would result on causing me this issue.
