Adjust sharpness / contrast?

In videos colors are nor a clear as they seem they should be, like when I adjust contrast for a pic in GIMP it does what I want the moniiter contrast doesn’t seem to work that good. People keep saying gama is the same basicly, Other posts here say adjust gamma, but not sure what the ganna shoulk=d be, vuds. only are the prob.

I know that you have not got it easy, have some problems …
But:
When you read what you just wrote -

which is what all the others have to decipher -

do you not notice the many typos?

It is often really hard to grasp what you even mean.

I have no advice regarding your problem.

All the Best!

Yes, i agree

Have you checked System SettingsDisplay & Monitor → check what RGB Range is set to (Full? Automatic?). See if this makes any difference.

Sorry for so much mistyping, gamma at default is best? Also, I can’t find RGB range.

first: check the settings of your display/monitor. usually different colour/display are avaiable.
second: post the output of the mandatory

inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width

what gpu ? intel, amd, nvidia ?
if it’s nvidia you’ll have to use their config-application to adjust brightness and gamma

I have Nvidia, I found something that says RGB range is in Display Config but also mentions wayland, in X it isn’t there, I didn’t see it anyway.

Sorry about the loong post, I couldnt remember the command to shorten. I was just going to delete it & attach it as a file, but I saw your post before I did that. I should turn on FXAA right?

I just took your text and formatted it … correctly.
to help you out, to make it readable

there is a symbol in the top row of the forum edit window, where you input your text
</>

mark the text
click the symbol
done

I do not know what FXAA is or what you mean by it.

I wonder if you would not be better served by using another Linux distro

Mint, for example.

I (reluctantly) did the switch myself.

Just so I could easily help my father - who has got the very same.

No heavy maintenance needed.

I have a screenshot, it is under anti-ailiding (sp).

… only with your information available to others:
try to find your screenshot -

you can’t

you have likely been given a link

share that

It is just a shot of Nvidia X server config. Just showing the FXAA option under anti-aliasins.

no one needs to see that :man_shrugging:
But I still don’t know what FXAA even means or why you would have brought it up.

This is going astray fast, it seems.

Report the issue
what should be vs. what you have now got.

and then videos vs still pictures

Hopefully this will help, gere is a link to another post from me on another forum. https://linustechtips.com/topic/1571074-kde-plasma-6-settings-for-best-picture/#comment-16416510

What are the best settings for my GPU to get the clearest sharpest image?

Moderator edit: Merged topics and made an edit for context

I can visualize (in my mind’s eye) your description.
But I have never actually seen it.
And no one else seems to have seen it either. No one complained about it.
If we can’t actually see the effect (with and without) - by way of a screenshot, perhaps - there can be only perpetual speculation about the reason.
IMO.

Oh - you just changed the whole description and the title.
Rendering my response invalid.

Not only but what ever screenshot provided will be tainted my video settings. Also on if I’ve cleaned my glasses lately.

it won’t be the graphics card. more likely the monitor

That might be it - the resolution it is capable of vs. what it is set to run at.
Or the glasses … :man_shrugging:
