Adjust External Brightness on Desktop + Displayport Monitor

Hello Guys, I’m rocking Manjaro Gnome fully updated. This is my first post here!

I am using a Nvidia GeForce 1080 Ti with the latest proprietary drivers connected using Displayport. and Kernel 5.12 btw.

I tried everything I could to control screen brightness, but it has been impossible. At night my screen is just too bright for me to work and I have to boot on windows to do that.

I’ve been following some guides in internet…

But is not working, as there are commands that just don’t work, (maybe it wasn’t written for Manjaro)

Thing is, I just want to be able to increase and reduce my screen brightness somehow, is there anyone who wants to help me with this? I would really appreciate it, and the sole reason for me to use windows will be gone.

Please help!

This is my output after sudo ddcutil detect

Can anybody please help me?

This sounds like a job for ClightAUR. It has an optional GUIAUR as well.

Hello Yochanan!
Thank you so much for answering!

I’ve installed Clight and Clight GUI using the Add/Remove software after enabling AUR.

Thing is, it doesn’t work or do anything, when I open the Cling-GUI the increase and reduce brightness options appear with the forbidden icon, and don’t work.

Any idea why isn’t working?

Here the output after clight in Terminal

Don’t do that. Enable the Clightd service:

systemctl enable --now clightd

Then start Clight by the menu shortcut or choose Force Capture from the Clight GUI tray icon.
