I’d recommend you boot a live environment, enter a chroot
environment from there and reinstall the kernel.
chroot
Ensure you’ve got a relatively new ISO or at least one with a still supported LTS kernel.
Write/copy/dd
the ISO to a USB thumb drive.
When done, boot with the above mentioned USB thumb drive into the live environment.
Once booted, open a terminal and enter the following command to enter the chroot
environment:
manjaro-chroot -a
When done, you should now be in the chroot
environment.
But, be careful, as you’re now in an actual root environment on your computer, so any changes you make will persist after a restart.
For more:
Once there you’d have to install a new kernel. I recommend 6.6 as I use that, it’s LTS, and it works well. To install it, from within the chroot environment, run:
sudo mhwd-kernel --install linux66
if all goes well and there were no errors, exit the chroot
environment:
exit
And reboot
Note that the above text is partially pre-prepared as a general introduction for new forum Users. Please take the time to follow links given and learn how to create effective Support requests and encourage quality responses.
The chroot
instructions will not work on a BTRFS filesystem. If you’ve got that, please see the following for chrooting instructions:
Best way is to boot from your installation USB
manjaro-chroot -a
from a Terminal window, then install the Kernel of your choice e.g.
mhwd-kernel -i linux612
@Mirdarthos you beat me to it!
Either boot a live USB and restore a snaphot, or maybe just chroot from USB and install that way.
I would boot into the Manjaro iso on a usb, then use manjaro-chroot to access your Manjaro installation. Here’s how (assuming you are not using the BTRFS file system):
Once you’ve accessed your system, you can re-install a kernel with:
mhwd-kernel -i linux612
.
This should install the latest stable kernel and update GRUB.
No need for sudo
with chroot
as far as I’m aware, but shouldn’t make any difference in this case.
Fixed it - thank you.
Also, there is no A in “kernel”
This Manjaro Wiki article explains how to reinstall GRUB:
Feel free to ask if anything needs clarification.
Regards.
A few quick questions:
inxi --admin --verbosity=8 --filter --no-host --width
I tried manjaro-chroot -a
It is detecting the wrong partition.
Manjaro is installed in my nvme drive. It is not getting detected. To detect that i need to update the grub with nvme_core.default_ps_max...
.
After adding this param & when i ran sudo update-grub. It gave cannet update latency error.
also i cant mount the manjaro partition since it is not detecting the nvme drive.
And where is Windows installed…
Please answer the question:
I have two drives
Nvme ssd
It has manjaro & windows 11
Hdd
It has Windows 10 and Ubuntu
You have been repeatedly asked for information, both from me and @soundofthunder. Without this any help we provide is at best an educated guess, so please provide more information.
Also, the disk setup you described is, in my humble opinion, as recipe for disaster.
Manjaro & windows is installed in the same drive.

At least that eliminates the possibility of BTRFS, but I expect this means the disk is NTFS, correct?
Also, you might want to reconsider this. I can’t say for certain, but I think it’d be wide to do so.
Anyhoo, boot into a live environment and please provide the output of:
manjaro-chroot
…from there, please.
The disk is ntfs

I guess you have not properly shutdown Windoof. Then partitions might be blocked as Win is only hibernating. You need to switch-off Fast startup in Win. Also make sure no Fast Boot in enabled in your firmware.
