Dear all,
since several days, in the pamac app a graphic overlay appears, that is normally only active in games.
How to remove it? Thanks!

Seems to be MangoHud. You have configured something for it to be in all rendered windows.

Yes, it is, thanks for reminding the app’s name.
I had configured it 1.5 years ago and never changed anything after this. Why it is now only appearing in a non-game app like Pamac? Other non-game apps doesn’t show this behaviour.
Any ideas? Should I post any config or log?
Thanks!

On more mabye useful information, because this topic was splitted:
I am using Manjaro unstable. And the problem occurred 10-5 days ago after an update.
Well, this is a known situation for applications on gtk 4 , as they use vulkan.
Probably you are using pamac gui on gtk 4, in that case you better disable the use of mangohud at system level and enable it only for games. Or you can switch to the classic version pamac-gtk3
or try add blacklist=pamac-manager
in mangohud config

If you are using Ubuntu 24.10 or something with Gnome 47 and above and for some … reason your Files / Nautilus looks like this if you enable mangohud in a more global way:

The MangoHUD config has a parameter called blacklist

If you set blacklist=nautilus it will disable mangohud for the Files / Nautilus app. Values are comma separated and works for Google chrome and others.
This was becoming a headache for me until I learned about this one, so Flightless is the GOAT. Thank you.

**Describe the bug**
Recently GTK release version 4.14 have [new vulkan rendere… r](https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/commit/ccdeaab1f97f5d73fad951a56bd0d6ccfa94f2a2) and now GTK lastest git start commit at [c9c29d8](https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/commit/c9c29d8bde5d331c923877c0d7fa5be17ee93f3f) or next release 4.15, its will be default on wayland.
its pretty good overlay on game but for application like GTK, its really disturbed. how to exclude on config or can this issue disable as default in build process?
**List relevant hardware/software information**
- Linux Distribution: openSUSE Tumbleweed
- MangoHud version: [commit 046b6ce](https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:mantarimay/mangohud)
- GTK: up to version 4.14
- GPU: Intel celeron 2957U/HD Graphics
**To Reproduce**
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
for GTK 4.15 if on wayland it will be appear overlay as default
for GTK 4.14, use env `GSK_RENDERER=vulkan`
and then open app based GTK4 for example `gnome-calculator`
**Expected behavior**

I am using the latest compiled version and upgraded to Ubuntu 24.10 (Beta) and w… hen I opened Files this shows

I was using /etc/environment with MANGOHUD=1 on 24.04 and this was not happening. I am just researching what could it be that triggers this on Files.
I am using Nvidia 560 driver and Gnome 47.
Basically the only things I could think different from Ubuntu 24.04 to 24.10 is Nvidia driver 555 to 560 and Gnome 46.2 to Gnome 47 but most likely I am missing something else.

One more update, I think this is a MangoHud issue, but maybe someone other here is also concerned, my GnomeCalc has the same problem starting from today or yesterday:
blacklist=gnome-calculator
helps.
Formally this is not a issue, mangohud draws the graph for applications using vulkan as expected. In this message states that the author added a check to make sure it didn’t work for gtk 4 applications. Maybe something changed in the latest gtk update and this check doesn’t work anymore, you should discuss it with the developer.

Anyway the proper way to use MangoHud is to enable it per application, not enabling it system wide. Should properly configure it.

Thanks for the views of opinions.
But what would be the reasonable, long-term solution for the simple user?
This is the reasonable and long-term solution:
You might need to read the documentation.
