I’m using Manjaro for a year now and I love it.
I’ve just updated to kernel 5.15.12-1 with the latest update. I’ve been running the 5.15.1 kernel as a daily driver, I haven’t done anything weird, I just updated the 43x packages pamac suggested.
After reboot I saw the bootup phase printed out and it hung after mentioning something about no APU architecture so it’s changing the mode. I wish I made a screenshot because it’s not displaying that text anymore the screen stays blank.
I tried the fallback option same blank screen.
Luckily I also have the 5.16 anbox kernel installed too so I can use the system.
I’m writing to let you know that there might be something in the 5.15.12-1 kernel that isn’t cool with a Radeon VII.
I did mange to boot into the 5.16.0-1-MANJARO x86_64 kernel using the fallback option. Normal boot hangs after the initializing usb mouse and keyboard.
Virtualbox doesn’t work with the 5.16 kernel that an AUR script compiled for me for anbox.
I’ve also tried the 5.15-7rt kernel as well and that seems to hang at the USBs just like 5.16.
I since reverted to the 5.14 kernel for stability.
The site won’t let me post the outputs of inxi.
I’ve pasted it here so it’s easier for everyone to see. For some reason it thinks there’s a URL in there somewhere. Maybe it thinks the text within the carets is HTML.
Check the logs from when you attempt to boot into 5.15 as outlined in the tutorial I linked above.
I have two problems:
The first one is that when I try to boot into 5.15 kernel, the screen stays blank for hours I tried. When I boot into 5.14 and do dmesg and the others they all show me booting into 5.14.
The second problem is that I can’t get konsole to save the whole output.
I think that this is the only report that is of use:

Ashmem and binder are for anbox. I thought that these are only compiled into the 5.16 mainline linux kernel and don’t affect the other kernels. This is the only new kernel that works for me, and it was compiled through AUR. I can boot into this kernel even now, that’s why I’m surprised none of the new Manjaro kernels seem to work but the earlier ones did.
