1030GT, can't load into wayland KDE with proprietary driver

Hello, I have an old AMD A8-6600K cpu and 2GB 1030GT Nvidia. If I install Manjaro with proprietary driver, Nvidia 570+, I can not load into KDE with wayland, I can only use X11.

I originally installed Manjaro with open source driver, which turned out to be nouveau and it could load into Wayland KDE easily. However, I saw some weird artifacts when running videos and slow motion in some cases.

So I followed the nvidia guide in archlinux wiki to install Nvidia, but after restart, not only the system could not find nvidia, they could not even detect my monitor and set the resolution to a lower one.

So I started checking stuff and saw a youtube guide, where they mentioned that nvidia-utils, opencl-nvidia, nvidia-settings and lib32 versions of them also must be installed. So I uninstalled nvidia package, restarted pc, came back and installed everything and followed both wiki and youtube guide. But Nvidia would still not be detected.

Can anyone please help me out?

Hi @lustfuldaoist,

I have a 960GTX with:

| NVIDIA-SMI 570.133.07             Driver Version: 570.133.07     CUDA Version: 12.8     |

And I’m using:

$ echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE
wayland

In my opinion the best option is to use mhwd to install the drivers for your GPU. Is this how you did it?

Hello, thanks so much for the reply so quickly, unfortunately, I was doing other stuff whole day and had not much time to sit down. I did not use mhwd. I used pacman to install everything with one command and edited the files listed in arch linux wiki and followed a youtube video to further edit more files. I will use mhwd to reinstall driver and see what happens and reply back.

Thank you so much, this solved all the problem. Cheers.
