After installing the package ZSNES v1.51 from the octopi package manager i tried to launch it and it would not start all.

I also tried to type zsnes in the terminal with no luck

This was the output:-

The reason I do not want to switch to some other emulator is becuase i have some saved files for some games. I am unware if these files can be used in other emulators.

what do you get on

$ ls /dev/input/event*
crw-rw---- 1 root input 13, 64 05.12.2018 07:53 /dev/input/event0
....

#3

here :-

/dev/input/event0 /dev/input/event14 /dev/input/event2 /dev/input/event5
/dev/input/event1 /dev/input/event15 /dev/input/event20 /dev/input/event6
/dev/input/event10 /dev/input/event16 /dev/input/event21 /dev/input/event7
/dev/input/event11 /dev/input/event17 /dev/input/event22 /dev/input/event8
/dev/input/event12 /dev/input/event18 /dev/input/event3 /dev/input/event9
/dev/input/event13 /dev/input/event19 /dev/input/event4

please try again

ls -la /dev/input/event*

I forgot my alias doing the long listing - I want to see the permissions when you list the folders

Try running it with sudo - when doing so it can detect your mouse.

Thanks for the quick replies. Yes this did solve the mouse detection problem but it still would not launch

Starting Mouse detection.
ManyMouse: 2 mice detected.
Using ManyMouse for:
Mouse 0: Logitech USB Receiver Mouse
Mouse 1: SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad
Segmentation fault

A window appears with the title of ZSNES for a split second and it closes immediately. I don’t know what this means

#8

I can’t help you with that.

A better place to search and ask is

All SNES emulators use the same sram save format, they’re totally interchangeable, they might need to have file suffix renamed.
You can even copy them to floppy disks and use them on real hardware with a copier such as a Super Wild Card (or SD card with a Super Everdrive or SD2SNES).

Thank You so much this fixed my problem

Np, ZSNES is not the best choice these days and it hasn’t been updated in years.
My favourite is byuu’s Higan, emulation is extremely accurate compared to a real SNES.
Of course, systems requirements are much higher compared to Snes9x, but besides BSNES, it’s the only emulator that runs Speedy Gonzales 100% without the use of hacks to the rom.
Highly recommended (also libretro version).
