Xournal++ has nasty copy & paste bug

I am a very active Xournal++ user, using it every day. Unfortunately, after the update from 4th of February, Xournal++ started exhibiting a strange bug:

Several copied annotations are pasted as single element which is scaled up or down compared to the original annotations. The bug has been reported upstream in May 2024 by another Manjaro user, but it hasn’t bugged me until February 2025: Old copy paste bug · Issue #5653 · xournalpp/xournalpp · GitHub

It looks like upstream is clueless about it as well. But since the issue started appearing after a big update (during which Xournal++ itself hasn’t been updated though) and both affected users are using Manjaro, I started thinking about possible causes in Manjaro’s other packages. So far I couldn’t figure out the cause of the issue though. The only thing I tried was removing ~/.config/xournalpp, the configuration folder, which didn’t solve the issue, and now I am clueless how to proceed.

Any hints are appreciated!

I just tested 1.2.6 on my Arch machine, it is broken there as well. So, it’s not just Manjaro but also Arch, and also not just 1.2.5 but also 1.2.6.

But it worked fine before the start of February update.
