Xfce manjaro wont boot after install (laptop)

after many trial and error i’ve hit a wall into what i can do.
after install and reboot, it loads for a very long time until i get an error saying ERROR: device 'UUID=’ not found skipping fsck. "
"mount: /new_root: can’t find UUID=

you are now being dropped into an emergency shell.
sh: cant access tty: job control turned off"

im using an HP 15 FD0083WM
any help would be appreciated

Welcome to the forum! :vulcan_salute:

Here’s a few things you can do… Boot up from the Manjaro installer USB/DVD/CD in live mode, open a terminal window, and issue the following commands…

sudo su -
manjaro-chroot -a
lsblk -f

Check the UUID of your root filesystem in that list, and compare that to the UUID for your root filesystem in /etc/fstab. If they differ, modify /etc/fstab.

nano /etc/fstab

Next, make sure your system is up to date, rebuild your initcpios and update your boot loader configuration…

pacman-mirrors -f 5 && pacman -Syyu
mkinitcpio -P
update-grub

Let all commands finish. Do not press that reset button!

If it still doesn’t work on the next reboot, post the output of…

inxi -Fza

The root UUID in /boot/grub/grub.cfg does not match with /etc/fstab.
You can correct this in chroot in /etc/default/grub.

sorry for the long delay in commenting or progress, i didnt have wifi for this live installer (had to use usb teathering) but now i can finally get somewhere

after doing lsblk -f this is what shows up
lsblk -f
NAME FSTYPE FSVER LABEL UUID FSAVAIL FSUSE% MOUNTPOINTS
loop0
loop1
loop2
loop3
sda
|-sda1
-sda2 sdb |-sdb1 |-sdb2 266.6M 10% /boot/efi |-sdb3 |-sdb4 |-sdb5 -sdb6 38.2G 15% /

also one other thing the UUID in /etc/fstab and /boot/grub//grub.cfg matched

if anything else is needed to troubleshoot or whatever i’d be happy to try

seems this install won’t work because you have to do an uefi-based install. please check your manufacturer-handbook for avaiable bios-settings (secure-boot etc.) and check the link below.
