I'm unable to install systemd-networkd and anything else network-related because I get "error downloading sources: configure-wifi-git"

So I’m trying to install wpa_supplicant, systemd-networkd, iw, configure-wifi-git
because I’m trying to set up wpa_supplicant to show me what the connection id is called so I can rename it in Firewall Builder which fails to find the “eth0” interface.

When I attempt to install iw I get this

looking for conflicting packages…
error: unresolvable package conflicts detected
error: failed to prepare transaction (conflicting dependencies)
:: abiword-gtk2 and abiword are in conflict
error installing repo packages

Even though this is my curent situation with abiword:
(see picture)

I’m really confused as to why abiword-gtk2 is being pulled as a dependency.

(it is not a depend of iw)

Please type your command and copy the output here -in full- and please use the formatting </> button.

( ex - sudo pacman -Syyu iw )

~ >>>

why?
If you want, for example, number 1 for iw … then just enter
1
then Enter

Thats because you were using yay incorrectly.

So now back to your title question …

I’m unable to install systemd-networkd and anything else network-related because I get “error downloading sources: configure-wifi-git”

So … is this the same issue? Because, for example,

is not a repo package.
What happens when you attempt to install wpa_supplicant ?

Is there a reason you apply yay constantly using the yogurt mode? Good practice is to update everything first before installing a new package, this could be achieved for example by

yay -Syu <new package>

Once again … you are installing much too many things… and not what you actually want

… why do you keep doing ^xx ?

~ >>> yay -Syu configure-wifi-git [1]

What if I may need those packages later?

…please stop and slow down… you dont actually want configure-wifi-git … it just keeps getting grabbed because of how you are installing the whole list provided.

You dont.

You only need/want to install what you are actually after…
trying to install the entire list of all matching strings is pointless and will fail … as it obviously has.

Alright. I have found the interface id using NetworkManager

Thats probably not your biggest issue.
Please review your package management operations and methods …

man pacman

man yay
