Xbox One Gamepad, the Original Bluetooth Dongle from MS won't work in Manjaro

I can’t get my xbox one wireless gamepad (the bluetooth dongle from MS) to work.
Is the first time that i try gaming under Linux and i hope you guys can help me out whats wrong here
and how to get to fix this problem. Btw the Gamepad and the Bluetooth Dongle working under Windows without problems.

When i connect my MS Xbox One bluetooth dongle with my PC, the device is not showed up in KDE under Bluetooth devices. And when i try to check for errors, there is something showed up.

I hope someone can help me with that issue, thanks in advance.

I think you want kernel 5.12+ as mentioned here:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Gamepad#Xbox_Wireless_Controller_/_Xbox_One_Wireless_Controller
(oherwise please refer to the rest of the possible solutions there)

I switched today from 5.10 to 5.14 stable but there is still no device listed under bluetooth adapters.

I see the same errors when i plug in the dongle:

When i look at the journal i look at:

Failed to activate service 'org.bluez'

I read somewhere that bluez is bluetooth related, is this true? Could this error lead to the not working wireless adapter?

Any help is welcome…

Hi there…

I came across your post while searching for a solution to the “Xbox One Wireless Controller”. The problem is, your device is recognized by your Kernel as a network device. I was amazed when I suddenly saw WiFi on my wired computer  I spent hours trying to find a solution for my LinuxMint20.2 on Kernel 5.11.0-38 and found it in the xow project (GitHub - medusalix/xow: Linux driver for the Xbox One wireless dongle).

If your device can connect to a different Bluetooth-/Wireless-dongle than Microsoft’s, try the Project xpadneo (GitHub - atar-axis/xpadneo: Advanced Linux Driver for Xbox One Wireless Controller (shipped with Xbox One S)).

hope it helps…

cheers

Yeah, i came accross the same solution after i was watching a youtube video about the difference between wifi and bluetooth, i found out that my xbox one gamepad doens’t support bluetooth and the xow projects is in pretty early state and its not official support :frowning:

It also doesn’t look easy to install, im still unsure if i should replace my xbox gamepad and rebuy one with bluetooth support.
