X11 and Wayland?

Happy New Year with health for all.
Typing

echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE

result is x11.
So far so good! But i have see (from Octopi) Wayland is installed as

egl-wayland , kwayland , lib32-wayland , qt5-wayland , wayland-protocols

too.
Wayland & the rest are useful for a system running x11?
Thanks in advance.

Happy new year to you too.
Library wrappers, protocols and APIs have dependencies, even tho are not used in a very obvious way for the user, they provide cross functionality and compatibility for applications and system regardless the session type.

Maybe if you told us your desktop environment, we could tell you which packages to install to enable Wayland.

I know this and I’m sure I installed an application that may have depended on those …

Mate is my DE but i’m sure installed an application that may have depended on those …

GTK3 depends on wayland same as GTK4 … Are defaults now.

I thinking to delete Waylang and his company but i learn to follow the motto “if runs don;t touch it” or somethimg like that!!

I think you mean “if it works, don’t fix it.” And yeah, if you’ve got no problems and everything works, why bother doing something that might break it? I have many wayland libraries on my PC, and it works quite flawlessly, so why bother doing something that might break it? Nah! Nope!

That’s a question can only answered by psychologist … :grinning:

“That’s a question can only answered by some psychologists.”

FTFY.
